SAFETY ON THE SPOT: HEADLIGHTS

Headlights have two purposes—to help you see where you’re going; to help everyone else, in a vehicle or on foot, to see you. Using headlights at night is obvious, but when else should they be on? If your vehicle is not equipped with daytime running lights, here are a few other occasions when the extra light would benefit you: rain and fog, in bright sun (helps cut through glare), during traffic jams and during twilight hours when it’s difficult to see details and judge distances.
